This composite image features an owl at night perched on a fence bordering a snowy meadow. I was going to call it a barred owl, but thought perhaps I should verify that. I’ve been through three different field guides, and I haven’t been able to find a round-headed owl with yellow eyes, speckled pattern and feathered legs anywhere in North America. It most resembles a Burrowing Owl, but they have bare legs. Even an internet search didn’t help. Drat!
At any rate the background for this wintery scene is from Pixabay, and the owl is from AdobeStock.
Take care stay well.
